"The choices we make in life define who we are and what we become. MDC explores the various experiences that we sometimes go through in our pursuit of our self-identity. In the end, we live because we choose. And we choose to DANCE."

Welcome to BIGTEETH-DANCE :D
MDC LTC
MDC LTC ended on Sunday morning, hope that everyone who
attended it had a blast that weekend(:
Thank you to all the alumni who turned up for the games and later on in the night, hope you all had fun with the games and movie! This post shall be about what happened during the camp and of course, not forgetting the awesome pictures too. For EXCOs and the various committees, camp started a day earlier, on Friday, for us to do preparation for camp and to start on the Dance Dare as soon as we can too. We had our dinner in Tampines area and after that, while most of us proceeded back to school to finish whatever we were doing, some of us proceeded to Giant together to get some things that we needed the next day. We had lots of fun scampering through the huge Giant to search for the various things. Below are some photos of us after dinner and at Giant.
After finishing dinner and discussing on who will go where.
Jared(the guy with the bottle) decides to do an unusual pose :D
Hendarto and Stanley debating on what to get at Giant (:
After we got the things we needed, we headed back to college and we started working on the Dance Dare. Basically, it is something similar to Ellen’s Dance Dare, whereby people are to dance behind a person without that person finding out and if the person happens to turn behind, these people are to pretend that they weren’t doing anything at all. At this camp, we decided to do the Dance Dare on Mr Sum so that very night, as he was doing some preparation in the studio, some of us already started dancing behind him and we had Filzah to film us as we did the Dance Dare, hehe.
After finishing what we had to do, we went to sleep early so
as to be energized for the next day’s activities. Some of us went out to get
breakfast for all of us and after finishing the set-up for games, we sat
together to enjoy our breakfast.
Oh and before I continue, our theme for the camp was….. The Hungry Games! This logo was suggested by Mr Sum, with the five coloured rings representing the “Games” part of it , the food/drink in the rings representing the “ Hungry” part and the bird ( the Mocking Jay) representing where we got our theme inspiration from – The Hunger Games. Though our camp theme sounds as if we infused some food with the playing of games, it wasn’t like this. Haha. Rather, the games were just games but groups could use Sum Dollars to bid for advantages during the games and at the end of all of the games, they could use their game points to bid for food which included ice-cream and chips (:
Here are the photos of the different groups.. Basically,
groups 1 and 2 are made up of J1s and groups 3 and 4 are made up of seniors and
alumni. The group colours followed the colours of the rings- red, yellow, blue
and green, with black being the colour for the game masters. In groups, we had
to come up with a group cheer and a group identity using the cloths that we
were given. You can see the group identities in the various photos below. I was
from Group 2, whose colour was yellow and the food in the yellow ring is fish
so we decided to have our group identity as fish and we used tape to stick it
onto our tee-shirts hehe. While Tyler was settling our group identity, Aralin
was coming up with our group cheer (:
After forming our group cheers and making our group
identities, we proceeded to the field to begin our games. We played a total of
four games – Best Buddies, Barbarian capture the flag, Running Man and Water
Captain’s Ball.
After a whole afternoon of good fun and games, we went to
shower and then went to eat dinner in the canteen extension. We had food
catered in for dinner that day so the food was waiting for us :D
Haha, after dinner, we went back up to the studio to just sit around and chill and we had the bidding of food then too. Bidding of food was then followed by a birthday celebration for the December babies. This birthday celebration was led by Jemaine and Hanis. But the birthday celebration wasn’t so straightforward though, it was masked by a dance battle, whereby people were by “ lucky draw” picked to be in one group and the other group made up of the December babies. So this dance battle was such that we needed to dance to Just Dance by Lady Gaga for 30 seconds and as the group of December babies started dancing, the song changed to Happy Birthday :D credits to Stanley for editing the soundtrack meant for this birthday celebration. As the evening drew to a close, Filzah edited the video of the various clips of people doing the dance dare and managed to finish the video in time before the movie and as the lights turned off and the dance dare video started playing, it was met with much hysterical laughter as everyone thoroughly found the dance dares really funny (: After watching the dance dare, we watched the movie Pitch Perfect. It was a pretty cute sight. It was just all of us, different batches of MDC dancers, some snuggled up in their sleeping bags and blankets, watching the movie together on one projector screen (:
Many thanks to Filzah, Carlyn and Peishan who were the
photographers for the camp,
yours, the Special Projects Committee who conducted the games, Mr Sum and Miss Wong for providing us with their help during preparation and others who have contributed to the preparation in one way or another and the campers who turned up with much enthusiasm! |
Credits to the AWESOME CHERYL CHAN for doing up the blogskin from scratch! ;)
